RAAF Australia design and build a new drone

In a relatively surprise announcement , the RAAF have released some details of a new locally designed drone to be aptly called Ghost Bat.

six have been built and 3 have flown.

minister for defense attended the launch and of course in the face of an election is chirping happily about initial interest realising around $18billion plus jobs and jobs and associated local business involvements.

interesting point is RAAF have chosen Well Camp Aerodrome to be the construction base , at Toowoomba , which our govt ****canned as an international capable airport

it's amazing how quickly these politicians can change their shirt when it suits.

I congratulate the RAAF as this has only taken 3 yrs so far.

I also congratulate Wagners for the magnificent precinct they have developed at Well Camp which may well become the centrefold of Australian Aviation.

Wagners have established an outstanding aviation/transport hub designed for local and international transportation of goods. An airline already flies out of Well Camp and facilities are first class.

The Ukrainians are allegedly enjoying a measure of tank-busting success with their armed drones.
-- "allegedly" as this war appears to be more manipulated and censored than it could be...

Logically, re-purposing a commercially built airframe is the way to go, utilise the 'human' space for electronics / ordnance, and its not a novel idea. Vaguely recall some mad Yank lashing a couple of BAZOOKA tubes to his (Taylorcraft ?) spotter plane. Scored a few hits...

That would be Bazooka Charlie in his Piper Cub. For a pretty out there idea, it seemed to have worked.
