    I think you might be right. I was hoping it would last me 12 months or so then change it for a D2 or maybe even something japanese. I dont need to use it everyday so will be able to do the repairs as and when funds allow. Thanks to all for your advise.

    I have spoken to a mechanic who said it was quite common for the head gasket to be ok, but the intake manifold gasket to fail letting coolant into combustion chambers.
    That said when mine failed it was the HG. But as said an easy job.

    Thanks, I will have a look at that as it starts and drives fine with no power loss.
