    TD4 EGR valve help

Howdy folks, I have pulled my sisters freelander EGR valve off, it is absolute filth, definitely believe it is the cause for some of the issues she is currently having. I know it is a known issue wiht them getting yuck in there. What is the best way to clean it? As in what should i clean it with? I do not want to put something in there that wrecks it LOL.
Also has anybody done the kit thing that solves the issue of the EGR valve clogging up? If so how do you find it? Works good and recommend?

    Thanks in advance troops

thanks! was thinking oven cleaner of some sort! I think she is going to get the bypass/block kit for it which i think will be a better solution.

You can leave the valve in-situ and remove the vacuum line and plug it. I removed the inlet manifold on our TD4 at 160,000km and i'd estimate the runners were 50% blocked. It cleaned up well through soaking in kerosine.

well though would update the freelander issues. did the egr valve, cleaned it all out. then it went to the mechanic for a service, and promplty died again at the mechanic. so then the fuel pump was infact faulty as suspected. but then it still did the engine light/limp home thing. just was getting worse. i am impressed her mechanic actually investigated and researched and it turned out to be valve in the turbo stuck shut. so that got freed up and car is perfect! and no mroe black gunk in it!
thought should update for anyone else with one of these having same issues, check the turbo!
