Driven a freelander across Australia to Sydney ?

    Hi all

I bought a sec hand 2002 FL SE and was wondering if this machine is capable for the long outdoor drives.
Has anyone done the trip to Adelaide, Sydney, Alice etc etc!?

Of course any car is capable of a long trip including 2002 Freelanders.

It depends on the condition and maintenace of the car.

Have it checked out by a specialist in perth, and given a full service.

Although : maybe Pommie cars have an inbuilt "destruct" button if you go more than the length of the UK. Bears thinking about .

I have to ask - why wouldn't it be able to drive across the country - except for steep, slow rocky country it will go anywhere.

I think it's a fair question but phrased poorly. My view is he's asking if any owners on here have actually done the big trip. It's one thing to say any car is capable of it, of course they are, but another to have an owner of one confident enough in the car's reliability to hit the go button on a big expedtion.

Not specifically, but I've done over 80,000 ks in a 2000 diesel. Much of that was on trips to & from Central Qld, along with a fair bit of dirt driving (we were into gem fossicking for a while)

As the earlier poster said, give it a full service, and enjoy the trip - they are really great cars, and very enjoyable to drive.

As far as the hilly, rocky stuff goes, I've raised quite a few eyebrows with the off-road capabilities it has - they are a Land-Rover, after all.
