    Best tyres for Freelander 1

We currently have Michelin 195/80 R15 XPC tyres on our Freelander 1 that are needing replacement. Unfortunately they are no longer sold in Australia.

What tyres have people found suit best a Freelander 1 that is used on 50/50 gravel & bitumen roads & wet grass?

Bridgestone HTs were ok on mine - when they wore out I got a set of cheap 16" rims and put BFG ATs on - these were great.

Thanks Garrycol for your prompt response.

Did the 16" rims alter the speedo much?

Our cars speedo over reads by 5km/h on the 15" rims.

The 15" tyres are a high profile tyre so there should be no change when you go to 16" rims with a lower profile - however I wanted more ground clearance so went to a 225 wide BFG so my speedo did change - but if you went to a narrower tyre there should not be much change.

Thanks Entilzh. Unfortunately I can't upgrade to 16" rims at the moment. It would definitely allow more options of the tread patterns available.

Has anyone changed the size to 225/70 R15?

The circumference is very close to the original 195/80 R15.
