    sad td4

    hi guys have a td4 problem its been over 18 months since the last one the hippo took a bit of a fall off some soft stuff got stuck had to be pulled out wouldn't start the firs couple of tries but then fired got stuck wouldn't start took about 2 hrs thought it was the common sensor problem when hot but the next day yep cold start forget it contacted the landy specialist in hobart told me forget it would possibly cost more than the cars worth to fix he dosnt look at them any more long story short 10 mins before the taxi was due to take me to the bus depot she started and is now safely home but unreliable wouldn't start this morning any thoughts
    btw have a v6 am using as donor car for interior unregistered all other parts available

    Might be one of the 3?? Fuel pumps im told these things have

    Not had then TD4 as mine was an L series - however the symptoms could well be a lift pump in the tank but I think either the crank or cam sensor is problematic with them an being stuck at some stage could be playing up.

    Woko is the man you need to get info on these - so maybe wait as he is normally along pretty quick or send him a PM.

    Definitely check fuel pump. What year model is it?

    hi woko its a end 2001 just a td4 bmw the car was fine no problems until it dropped over a small bank about 5 ft got stuck front and rear was digging out and a nice guy came along with snatch straps tried to start before he was pulling no luck but once on the flat was ok then the rest happened just waiting on a scan tool to turn up bought an icarsoft lr2 so any tassies reading am happy to help out with a scan around the launnie area will travel for a fee to

    It will have 3 fuel pumps. One in the tank. One on the lh inner guard. One on the engine. Check if you can hear the pump on the guard running whoever you first turn the key on. If it runs check the pump in the tank. You will have to remove the fuel line for this and have a second person to turn key on and off. Your problem sounds like a fuel delivery problem. It should log a low fuel supply pressure fault which will stop it from starting

    ok thanks it started this arvo after trying on and off all day i left the ignition on for a whilst about 2 minutes then it fired am suspecting the one under the guard will let u know what i find when i get to it i still have my trusty patrol atm so in no hurry
