As an after thought - why do you need to replace that front CV? It is there to provide a "constant velocity" function for the drive to the rear - it does not operate at any angles so does not wear at all. So unless there is something obviously wrong I would assume it is OK.

We may have discussed this previously (getting old and the mind is going) - but do you know why the rear drive system was taken out - it is usually because the IRD has failed, though the IRD may still work OK for front drive. If the rear drive system was taken out just because of the VCU then great but just be aware that if the IRD had failed when you put all this back in issues with the IRD may show up. If it has failed it is normally just the rear drive function and usually just the bearings though new pinions and crown wheels are available.

The other issue that will show up when the driveshaft goes back in will be failed rear diff mounts. It has two diff mounts at the rear which never fail but all the weight of the front of the diff is carried by one mount that fails probably every 80,000km and is a pain to replace. It shows up as a knocking when speed changes rapidly. These mounts are not all that expensive and with the tail shaft out I would replace it while it is easy to get at. In the 150,000km of ownership I replaced mine twice.

Also be aware that the coolant system has lines that go into the IRD and these can corrode inside the IRD showing up as coolant in the IRD oil etc. Just make sure you use a good quality anti freeze corrosion coolant and all should be OK. If they were going to corrode they would have done it by now.
