Hi Guys just checking in to see if the general grabber is still available in 235/60r18?
I'm looking for 235/60/18 tyres for wife's Freelander which negotiates dirt roads every day.Fed up with Continentals having had 2 sidewall punctures and a few other punctures. Just no good on the dirt.
Have found some Toyo Open Country H/Ts in the right size. Anybody fitted these? Are there any other options? Have had GG ATs on my Discovery and found them way too noisy so would prefer not to fit them.
Have Scorpion ATRs on my Sport and love them but the only size that comes close for the Freelander is 255/60/18.. I wonder if there is a problem with that size on the Freelander.
I've only just got my FL2 not too long ago and only just found this forum.
I assume you've find a solution in all that time but I thought I'd type this out either way for others that may get here through Google or something.
I'm installing 235/60R18's General Grabber Ats on my FL2 tomorrow through Bob Jane in Brissy - they say they can normally get them delivered in a couple days and he made it sound like there was plenty in stock.

Back home in SW WA after many years os and just bought a good 2010 FL2 HSE as a good all rounder a bit of camping surfing fishing etc with the kids. Will need new tyres soon, looking through your forums to see what you guys reckon. Was planning to do the usual and go back to 17" rims with bfg at for the sand and mud down here but looks like in Aus 17" rims hard to find so next option find a good tyre to fit the 18". Seems like very few options. People recommending me Cooper Zeon ltz as a crossover...Anyone had them on a Freelander?
Second question, need a roof rack and hearing good things about Frontrunner slimline racks but never had one. Look great online.. but a little expensive. Any feedback? Ours Will take a beating.
Thanks, excellent forum

I went for the AT. Less aggressive pattern but I've heard it's far quiter on the motorways where I'll be spending most of my time. It's going quite well so far - noise is expectantly louder than the Couragia FX but the handling at high speed feels just as fluent.
Only tested it on Sand at Bribie Island in terms of off-road. 20psi and even the soft dry parts were super easy to glide over. But this may be a factor of how good the FL2 is on sand as opposed to the tyres.
Since getting these (once) at a bargain price of $210 ea (still possible to internet-search for about $270, delivered and fitted), I've never wanted to use anything else. On-road, they are remarkably secure; off-road - particularly in greasy conditions - they are exceptional. Plus being quieter, unless they aren't 'rotated' front><back, when they can get a peculiar sticky-hum at 110kph (rear tyres).
The weakness is, of course, wear. They only seem to last 30-40,000km - but the improvement in braking distance probably pays for that in a single avoided accident.
Gidday Rog- anything to report?
