I started with the racks and feet and changed to rails later. I installed them myself with very little trouble, it is fiddly though especially at the front end. I much prefer it with the rails, quieter and you can position the racks in more places. I had to hack away my racks to make them fit once the rails went on as the rails are a little narrower than where the feet sat. I needed to change to accomodate my roof tent since it wouldn't sit in the right place with the feet.

I am looking for a place in Sydney where to get the rails and fit them at a reasonable price. Not interesting on doing it myself, but also not willing to pay $2000.
I found this site which sells the rails for $330 , but of course I'll have to fit them myself .
Thought I would ask in this thread as it would be as good as any. Who manufactured the factory Land Rover roof rails for the Freelander 2? My recently purchased Freelander has bars and did not come with a roof rack mount key/tool. I need to relocated the bars as they are placed to close together to use to carry my surf ski.
It looks like a security torx bit, maybe Rola or Thule by the looks of them.
I don't know the actual supplier but does it look like this?

This is the Rhino Rack security bolt and it is simply an M5 or 6 button head socket screw with the security thing in the middle.
If so, you need a security Allen Key like this:

You'd be able to get an Allen Key from any roof rack place.

Someone else may know where to source one but if it was me, I would be taking to the centre pin thingy with the Dremmel. Carefully so as to preserve the normal Torx profile. I hate those security socket heads.Quote:

I took your advice and rang a few roof rack places around Sydney and after a few calls of sorry can't help you I got the answer i was after. The screws are actually classed as security Torx and a trip to Autobahn at Gregory Hills saw me get a set of Torx security apex bits and spanner for $17.
Racks now moved to an appropriate position.
