Is the new battery fully charged? Also, maybe check the fob batteries as I had two garage remote control batteries die within short order? Does the FL2 model have the fob that is rechargeable? I'm sure someone more learned will be along shortly!
My Freelander 2 battery was disconnected for several days. When I put a new battery in, everything seemed to work fine except locking and unlocking. Both fobs used to work well for locking and unlocking, but since I changed the battery they are both working only very intermittently (press 10-20 times and maybe it would lock/unlock, maybe not). Now I know that the fob batteries can run out, but it seems a strange coincidence that I am getting this problem in both fobs at the same time, and that this happened right after changing the car battery. I would be grateful if anyone might know. Thanks!!

Thanks! That makes sense, and certainly worth trying before getting a new fob from Land Rover. Still, I thought I should post this first, in case someone has come across a similar situation before and the problem was not in the fobs (maybe the receiver in the car?)
I was advised by LR that keys are rechargeable and are charged by being used in the car- so you should be swapping them over periodically to make sure they will both work.
Im not sure this addresses your issue though, if both have started not working at the same time. Maybe they are just due for replacement, and the new battery has pushed them over the edge...?
Thanks. I am aware of this and have not always been careful to swap the keys, but as you wrote it doesn't explain the problem in two keys at the same time (the less used key used to work fine). Anyway, I think I will try to replace the battery in one of the fobs (which I understand requires some soldering) and see if it solves the problem (and also just check the voltage on the battery inside the fob to see if it's indeed out of charge).
Hi,
Sounds like the same problem I had with my Defender, both not working.
I solved the problem by using the proceedure in the owners manual for disconnecting the battery.
See if your manual has anything to say on that, and if so, try it.
Cheers

Hi austasar,
Thank you for your suggestion. I want to be sure I understand you correctly. Are you saying that you had a similar problem with both keys not working, and solved it by disconnecting the car battery and then reconnecting it, much like people reboot a computer? I don't understand why that would work, but then again rebooting also solves problems for no obvious reason.
Cheers,
Guy
Hi,
Yep, both key fobs not working, RACT chap tested the batteries in them and was totally foxed by the problem.
A flattray was about to be called when I said I wanted to try the specified proceedure for battery removal first.
RACT chap hadnever come across it before, so I photocopied the pages from theowners manual for him.
Cheers
