    Aftermarket upgrade audio

Hi all, I've recently bought a Freelander 2 Sport sd4 and love it. However, I've decided to replace the mid level audio stack with an aftermarket double din CarPlay system and upgrade the 9 speaker system... As part of that, i know that I'm going to have to swap out the factory amp... Has anybody on here already done something like this, and if so what words of wisdom can you share..... Cheers all. Darren

I've replaced the one in my 07 model. I didn't upgrade anything just changed the head unit. The only issue I had was they had 2 attempts to get the reverse sensors working and couldn't. They fitted a reverse camera instead.
I got a kit from the UK and fitted myself to get the reverse sensors working.

Did you lose any functionality on the drivers display.... I think the clock on the drivers display runs via the head unit (if that gets lost or I can't change time no big deal) but if any of the other displays go (dte, ave fuel, ext temp ect) I'd be a little more annoyed... Cheers

I didn't lose anything on the drivers display. Mine is a early model and didn't have the clock in the drivers display. I have heard that you lose the clock. All the average speed, fuel, dte, ext temp all remained.

That's what I thought as only the clock has any kind of "input" via head unit... But better to ask the question before I buy the new head kit, wheel adapter kit and reverse sensor kit and open Landrover Pandora box....

They got the steering wheel controls to work they couldn't get the reverse sensors to work. The module I got from the uk went straight in and works great.
Mine only has reverse sensors. The audio shop told me that the reverse only was an Australian fitment and the front and rear was factory fitted. They believe that mine must be a factory fitted rear only sensors as it is a early FL2 this is why there module wouldn't work.

Thanks for the input.... So, pretty much have solution sorted out and will retain steering wheel controls and rear parking sensor. Double din CarPlay, speakers etc... Looks like a few people have viewed this so if any interest, I'll post some photos of installation once finished. Cheers all

Hey mate, are you able to post a link to this product? I had a radio fitted and they reckon they can't get the rear sensors to work along with the camera, cheers
