    Freelander 2 - 10 year / 240k service in Melbourne.

    Hi,

My FL2 TD4 has hit the ten year mark, which means it's time for the "big service"; Timing and drive belts, water pump, diff and haladex fluids etc.

Any recommendations on where to take it on the West side of Melbourne?

How much roughly should I expect to shell out?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Can't comment where to go but you may have troubles finding a landy indy with the timing pins. The engine is the same as what they use in Peugeot and Citroen. You may find a indy that does these may be able to help with belt. Expect a bit for the service. The haldex and bevel gear oils are genuine only and very expensive. I used a penrite oil in the auto and the diff is a standard diff oil. The auto is easy to change but the other 3 have no drain plug and need to be sucked out.
It doesn't leak oil, Its sweating power

You could ask Hunter and Cuthill in Geelong.
I just did and I was told "About a thousand" to change the timing belt and all the other bits.

    Their number is 0352294299

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

    Hi,
You could also try a Brad Witham an indi in Ballarat on 0421693507. Ex Peugeot specialist, haven't taken our Freo 2 to him but he worked on daughters Mini Cooper S and was very reasonable, also said he doesn't mind a challenge, i.e understands that everyone doesn't have to drive a Toyota!

One other point, our previous FL2 was an 07, meaning it has a Gen3 Haldex, and hard to get filters for. I went to bellengineering.co.uk they sell full service kits for a good price, with as needed oil so you don't end up with a lot of VERY expensive oil on your shelf. Only take about a week to deliver.
