buying FL2 (2013-15) TD4 vs SD4? Also any "extras" you think are worth looking for?

Hello everyone! I have decided I would love to buy a Freelander 2. I'm based in QLD and unfortunately there are not many for sale in my state and likely will need to go interstate.

I had a couple questions which I would love someone to help answer.

1.I'm torn between a TD4 or SD4. Realistically I will be doing city driving mostly, with the occasional off road drive. From my understanding the TD4 and SD4 are the same engine but the SD4 is remapped differently. Am I correct to think I could buy a TD4 and do a ECU remap (with roo systems) to make it similar to a SD4?

    2. Any extras you guys wish you had/glad you had? There are a few TD4/SD4 SE models out there.. the HSE are harder to come buy and are 3-4k more expensive. Any advice?

    Thanks a lot!

    I test drove a late SD4 a while ago. Powerwise I wouldn’t go less than a SD4. I didn’t end up buying it.

Depending on what sort of extras you mean, my advice would be to pop into this thread:

Retrofitting missing factory options to new-ish LR's; FL2, Evoque, D3/D4, RRS, etc...

In particular, Cambo@oldjaguar is fitting up a FL2, but there are others there who know heaps. They don't seem to spend any time on the general threads, so pop in and ask there.
