    Hi

Just bought a 2010 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 i will use the car as a bit of a work horse as i did with my previous 95 Disco ES the car yard put on a tow bar for me but i need the roof rails(and crossbars :-note it has the sunroofs)and i also removed the light bar and whole wiring loom from my Disco and was planning to fit it to the Freelander via a bushranger x-bar which is ADR compliant. So i removed the headlight assembly to check things out and found that the Highbeam bulb (H7) has a specific special connector that holds the globe in as well as providing the power so i cannot use the existing harness that came with the light bar as the lightbar harness is meant to plug into the globe then the existing car harness plugs into it to give the high beam only power for the light bar to work via the relay switch. If i used that setup there would be nothing to hold the globe in as on the Disco the globe is held in by it's own spring clip then the plug is pushed on,so what i am asking is how can i get over this problem with the light harness and does anyone know about the roof rails/crossbars etc for a Freelander 2 and are the OEM's worth the money.....jbird49

Your 95 Disco uses one H4 light globe. Main beam and high beam in the one unit. The Freelander will have 2 H4 globes. You will need a similar piggy back H7 plug. Or add/splice a plug into the existing high beam loom and add the plug to the spotty loom.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Hi Bohica as i said when i pulled the light assy out it is a H7 main beam and whatever the xenon low/high globe is by law it has to be wired into the high beam only. The problem is that unlike my old disco the globe on the high beam is not held in with the normal spring clips it is held in by the big square black plastic block that doubles as the power supply plug so unless i can get another type of piggy back adapter that will hold the globe in as well i think it will have to be the second option of hard wiring it in to the high beam circuit.I have seen a few freelander 2s with light bars so i was hoping that someone here might have had the answer on a compatible piggy back plug like i had on the disco....jbird49

    Hi jbird49,
Noticed in your post that you are after some roof bars for your FL2. We have a set of original LR ones including the crossbars, bought them about 18 mths ago from TRS in SA, as a kit so everything should be there. Was going to fit to our FL2 but it got written off by a truck before I had a chance to fit. Bought another one soon after but also switched from camping to a small poptop so no longer have intention of fitting bars. They are in very good condition and did not even have chance to unpack them, the before accident. We paid $650 but would sell for $500. We live near Ballarat.
    Cheers

Hi Joe do you know if they are the right ones for the sunroofs like i have on my HSE as apparently if you have the sunroofs either the rails or the crossbars are higher i am not sure which still trying to find out as if it is the crossbars it doesn't matter as they will only be on there when i am carrying a load. Will try to find out tomorrow from land rover here in Melb. If it is the crossbars that are higher i will certainly take them off your hands ...regards JB

Will check to see if there is a part # somewhere, or get some sort of measurement on height. Because as I said previously did not even get chance to unpack before car got written off, only had a look to see if they were in good condition. Maybe someone else might know if they fit, or can google to find out facts, not to be cynical but Land Rover might prefer to sell you a new set?

Hi Joe from what i have discerned from from a UK LR forum it is the integral cross bar that is only basically for stabilizing the roof rails that is different and slightly higher to clear the rear sunroof when it is deployed which is a bit of a pain if that is the case as you cannot buy it separately(if that is true).i tried TR spares in Sa today and they have nothing so i might have to bite the bullet and go to Land rover at $650 just for the rails. Didn't want to but i might have to got to the net and buy Chinese as what i will be carrying is just long not heavy....JB
