Lost Radio and parking sensor function after battery change

    Hi All

I need help please. I have a Freelander2 model 2007 i6. I have lost parking sensor and Radio functions after changing a flat battery.

The radio has power and can access the setting for AUX and Clock. The Clock display is functioning but it has disabled the CD and Radio.

The parking sensor has light on, but no sound. I was doing some research and was told the sound is emitted from the speakers and hence the PDC and radio is linked.

Another forum said there is a an software update available. However when I asked my local appointed Freelander, they said could be possible and I would be charged to have this update even if its a design flaw.

    Has anybody experienced this?

When I changed the battery, the car immobiliser locked the car from starting and i had to get it towed to a local garage to unlock the electrics again. However no luck on the radio.

Much appreciated if you can assist

I can’t help sorry, but here are some suggestions.

Do you have the owners manual for the FL2?
Is there a section specifically about the radio?
Some older cars came with a security code connected to the radio, so if it is stolen - you can’t use it UNLESS you have the pin.
Maybe a FL2 is the same?
Check the user manual - to see if
This is the case & for the PIN.

Other than that-try a UK site as unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a big number of Freelander users on here. Lost Radio and parking sensor function after battery change

    Thanks Grey ghost.

I checked with my local landrover and the 2008 model didn't require a radio code. According to the service history, the vehicle is fully updated in software.

So my gut feeling is the amplifier. Do you know if the amplifier dies, does this affect the stereo head unit?

I checked the optics lights and only one of the orange wire has red light. Do you know how to test if the amps are working?

    cheers

    Ed

Sorry Ed - I don’t have an answer for you. I would think that if the amplifier is dead, then you won’t hear any sound from the speakers though.

Thanks mate. That's my gut feeling too. I am not a stereo expert, but would you know what are the fibre optics for in the amp?

There are two orange wires. One of the wires is emitting a red light which I assume is normal and the other isn't.

I check the head unit too. Only one of the orange lights is emitting a red light as the amp. Does this optic fibre will cause the head unit to auto shut off by itself?

    Hi Edmund,
From my understanding of fibre optics, and I'm no expert that's for sure, the red light on one leg is normal. The fibre optics is used on the Freelander for comms I think.

Can't help with your problem sorry but you might like to check out the Freelander forum here http://www.freel2.com

Lots of info from some very knowledgeable owners.

    Cheers

Thank mate. Your info is useful. I had the same idea too. The fibre optics was to communicate with the head unit. If one leg is emitting light, then seems the wires is working. But do you know how I can test the amps?

There is no fuse no light to shows it powered up. Right now, its the amp I am suspicious about.

Were you out of range of the vehicle when you changed the battery?
I just did both the remotes for our Defender, but I was about 5ks from the vehicle and so out of range and there wasn't any problem - everything is fine.
    Just a thought.

Thanks Mick. When you said out of range - can you elaborate more? How can I check for this?

    Cheers
