bump? Anyone ?
Two years ago - after the release of the Disco Sport - I posted a thread lamenting the fact that FL2 prices were still strong.
Nothing seems to have changed on that front...
As I understand it 2014 was the last year of the FL2?
There are currently zero FL2 TD4 HSE's for sale on carsales, they are all SE models. And $30K seems to be the number for those... which seems a lot for a 5 year old car.
Given their age there are at least a few things on the Freelanders which are quite dated - one obvious one being the stereo head unit and small screen. Are there after-market alternatives to these to modernise things?
Are there any fixes and mods that people have done to FL2's to bring them more 'up to date' - eg camera systems etc?

Check this thread. It has some great ideas.
Retrofitting missing factory options to new-ish LR's; FL2, Evoque, D3/D4, RRS, etc...
Life is just a series of obstacles preventing you from taking a nap.
Thanks.
Also wondering what people have fitted that wasn't necessarily a factory option, but would fall within the 'comfort and convenience' sphere...
And given that most of the vehicles for sale are SE, not HSE - what were the differences between the two?
It seems really quiet here in the FL2 forum? Is there a reason or that ?

G'day Vlad,
Yes it is usually pretty quite around here. My guess is that the FL2 is pretty good just as they are for what they are, they are reliable and not much goes wrong requiring forum assistance and not many people are doing any modifications worthy of posting.
As far as updating the stereo, just do a google search for "Freelander 2 android" and you will get a bunch of head units that are capable of all the new conveniences at a somewhat reasonable price.

You haven't mentioned which model year you're looking at.
As far as infotainment systems;
Up to 2012MY, you can do whatever you want with them really. The audio system is not integrated and you have lot's of options.
The 2013-2015MY you need to be careful. My advice is do not buy one that has the low-spec audio system with the small screen, only get one with the Meridian audio, full size touchscreen, clock in the middle of the dash.
There's plenty of options with the Meridian system, but you can't do a thing with the low-spec small screen unit, even ripping it out and replacing it completely is difficult...

Well I updated the wifes 07 FL2 to a 10" android unit with a full 360 degree cameras with ADAS and a front and rear dash cam.
The Apple Car Play works great but not so much the Android.
It was challenging to install as there are 6 cameras with all the cabling plus mounting cameras on the side mirrors. But it works great and it cost about $800.
