    Update Centre Dash

    G'day All,

    Moving from a Disco2 to a Freelander 2 MY2011.

    Have searched the forum;

    Is it possible to switch centre dashes from the earlier models to the later style? We'll be getting that awkward year model with the updated exterior and engines but not the dash area...

    A retrofit of the factory 2012-2015MY system really isn't feasible, but there are some aftermarket options to give you a screen for reverse camera, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, etc that are not too bad.

    I did something similar in a customer's Discovery 3 recently.

    Thanks Cambo,

    That's a shame, I much prefer the updated centre dash.

    Did your new system integrate well with the existing speaker set-up?

    The audio from the new screen is routed through the AUX input of the factory radio, so you're not losing anything in that sense.

    Does your new Freelander 2 have the Alpine system?

    Hardwired into the aux input?

    It has the 9 speaker alpine, may upgrade to the 14 down the track.

    There's a Y-harness that plugs into the back of the head unit for the power, steering wheel controls and AUX connections.

    If you do want to upgrade it to the 14-speaker surround system I have a spare amplifier here.
