Freelander 2- Jerking after stopping and accelerating

I have seen a few similar posts, just wanted to see if there was any new info.

I just bought a used Freelander 2 2012 td4 and about an hour after driving without fail, when I stop at traffic lights and go to accelerate the whole car jolts back and forward, like the gear is stuck. According to my partner when in snow/mud mode it doesn't do it (can't say for certain though). Scanned with OBD reader and only old unrelated errors show. Any experiences with this? I'm thinking it could be something major- as why seller has sold it and concealed this, and has blocked my number.

It will be your crank angle sensor. Only get a genuine or bosh replacement and it only takes a 5 minutes to change.

    Odd possibilities

I'm presuming you've long since solved this problem.
I had that once a few years ago; turned out it was nothing more than a fuel filter. The car was near-stalling at lights, etc.

As an aside, replacing a fuel-filter in a FL2 is not a tiny job; you have to replace the filter and bleed each injection feed. There's a YouTube on it. This is complicated by the FL2 having a safety feature - if too much air goes through the system or the Engine Management System detects only one or two cylinders firing - the fuel-pump (therefore the motor) shuts down.

If you have a situation where the car on acceleration or even cruising just cuts out like you have turned the ignition off and back on, it will be the crank angle sensor.

A blocked fuel filter will start showing a lack of power while accelerating first off and get worse from there.

The fuel filter in the Freelander 2 diesel is not that hard. All you have to do after you change the filter is suck on the return line until the filter is full, plug the line back in and hit the starter.

Normal old school diesels before common rail, yes you have to bleed each injector but not common rail.
