Timing belt installation locking tool kit

    Hello
Anybody have this? willing to sell/rent?
    Part number DA1115.

It seems silly to spend 45 pounds plus postage for a one use item.

    Thanks

    Julian

You don't need a Land Rover specific tool. I just had a generic cam locking kit and it had the 2 locking pins you need. You could even use a couple of drill bits.

Yes, I was thinking, what is the diameter of the pins? But a drill kit would have a few variations in size. Why lock the flywheel as well as the crank shaft? The fly wheel is bolted to the crankshaft. T withstand the torque of undoing the crankshaft pulley bolt?

You don't lock the flywheel AND the crankshaft, you lock the crankshaft with a pin at the flywheel. And lock the camshaft on the drive pulley with a pin to the head.

The pins I used from my kit are both a tad over 6.5mm. They are nothing special, just mild steel pins.

The Land Rover workshop manual specifies to lock the fly wheel with the pin and with the tool that engages on the flywheel teeth.
I am thinking that undoing the crankshaft pulley bolt could bend or break the fly wheel locking pin.

If you have any issues with doing the job, just do what the manual says.
