    Noisy Air Conditioner

    Hi all,

I hope someone can help, when I turn on the AC I seem to get a like a whirring sound, almost as if another fan starts and is slightly obstructed by something. I can only really hear it from inside the cabin and the noise does change with the revs also. I was told by the previous owner that their mechanic looked into the compressor and found nothing wrong. 2009 HSE 2.2 TD4

We have one the same vintage, ours needs the compressor replacing as it's very noisy, still works ok though.

That would be my first thought and it's pretty easy to check where the noise is from with the bonnet up.

Just another check would be to pull off the battery cover and have a look down and back at the firewall and look at the blower fan and make sure it's not obstructed by anything.

It's very hard to hear any noise in the engine bay over the diesel motor, it does sound like it's on the drivers side when sitting in the cabin.

Just checked the blower box can't see anything obstructing it. The fan works fine by itself the noise only starts when the AC is turned on. Is there 2 fans?
