You did put deisel in when you feulled up not petrol by mistake..

We have a Freelander 2 2010 HSE.
It started to miss yesterday and my wife managed to get it home. I took it for a drive and it worked fine. She used it the rest of the day with no problems.
Today we took it out and it missed again for a little bit then drove fine. Once we got into the city and parked it cut out and we had to restart it and finish parking. At the end of the day to come home it started and we got out of car park and it cut out and couldn't restart it. RACV came and no error code. It did start and run for a little a couple of times but ended up getting it towed home. Once hoe was able to start it and drive it up to the shed where it idled for a bit then stopped again.
Turbo hose is fine and full tank of diesel.
It was pretty low on fuel yesterday when it did start to play up. put in 60L
Could it be that some crap from tank has blocked filter?
Fuel pump?
Any suggestions as we are planning on going away on Friday with the car and camper?

Ive never had anything to do with the Freelander engine so im not familiar with the set up.. i did have a falcon ute once that had similar symptoms and it ended up being a faulty wire to the crank angle sensor
There will be others that have more expierence than me.. so hopefully someone will chime in with suggestions..

Just to let you all know where I'm up to, Ive replaced the fuel filter and it worked for awhile then stopped again.
I thought it may have been ok as I had pumped diesel manually up to filter etc.
I can hear the pump in the tank buzzing when car starts and stops. I know this is only meant to be a transfer pump, one side of tank to the other but wondered if it actually started the fuel up the lines?
Crank angle sensor was done almost 3 years ago so I think it should be ok.
Anyone know how to test this, ie values with volt meter or similar?
Any other suggestions? The pump in tank is a big job and the pump is expensive so don't want to replace it if its not needed. Is there a way to test or power it temporarily to just see if it runs?
I also pulled the pump in the engine off and checked the gear inside the pick up side and the little metal collar thing is not broken.
Any other ideas?

Thanks for all your help. I have just changed the Crank Angle Sensor and that seems to have solved the problem. Old one on there was only a couple of years old so didn't think it would of been that. Anyway it has seemed to have worked so thanks for all the suggestions.
Oh and yes there are still bubble in the fuel line, not seeming to effect its running!

I had a 2009 HSE that occassionally refused to start. No problem with missing or stopping once running though.
Problem was finally diagnosed (by a well respected independant Landy specialist) as very fine metal particles throughout the fuel system caused by wear in the HP Fuel Pump. Suggested fix was to replace the entire fuel system at a cost of about $15k. Lovely car but I ended up trading it at SWMBO's insistence.
So, I'd suggest that whenever you do a fuel filter change that you drain some of the fuel into a clean glass jar, allow it to settle and then closely inspect for fine metal particles that would indicate wear and if found, take appropriate action before it becomes a major problem.
