New TD4 question

Hi,

it was very close between the Freelander and the Mitsubishi Challenger. We ordered a Mitsubishi a few days back.
The FL was more car like (which was good) and the gear box was better but the Mitsubishi is 20cm longer and we can have it as a 7 seater (for driving around those inlaws when they visit) also has low range and ladder frame.
Downside of the Mitsubishi is only 5 speed gear box (also 5th is very long) and weight. With over 2t it's not a race car. We could only drive the manual so far but ordered a auto (can still change) but only the auto is available as 7 seater.
So this week we can drive an auto and pick a colour.

Another happy FL2 owner here, wish I could say the same about no strange noises or rattles. I have a clicking in the front driveshafts(been to the dealer, CV's need replacing) There is a creak from the steering rack under brakes around corners, clunk from the rear, numerous rattles, a new scraping noise from under the car, turned out to be a slightly bent heat shield rubbing on the driveshaft(no I didn't bottom it out).

Back to the topic, the 4007 has the same engine and gearbox(scratch that, the 4007 has a twin clutch gearbox(aka VW DSG) as FL2, so the feel must all be down to tuning.

En joy the Starwagon, should be a good honest truck.

The 4007 was an auto and the FL a manual. I was soooo impressed with this auto. It just felt as it had more power than you need as the FL felt like it's just enough and the Challenger like it's missing a bit (but it has the extra weight as well).

The DSG type autos do seem to get the best out of an engine, however they aren't all that suited to off-road and towing. Even VW put a conventional auto in the tiguan as the DSG caused issues with overheating off road.
