    1998 Tdi4 ?

Im thinking of delving into the Freebie world for the stepson as a project to do up for his first car.
I have checked out a Tdi4 manual as a project that has done a big end bearing in the engine .
Now im aware of T/C dramas they suffer . Is there any other hidden supprisers lurking to watch out for ?

There are no hidden surprises with the L series. I'm not sure undersize bearings are available.
It has been said that the TD5 has the same rods, pistons and crack dimensions as a L series. I have never tired it though. Undersize bearings are available for the TD5
It doesn't leak oil, Its sweating power

Well had a big win today
Picked the car up last week end didnt get a chance to do any thing to it .
Today i thought id pull the sump guard off to access underneath the engine.
Well to my suprise the fan belt was half off and the belt tensioner was hard up against the harmonic balancer.
Any way dropped the belt off put a socket on the crank and it turned over.
Got in the car and it started Turns out the AC compressor has seized what a $400.00 bargain
