Swap the switch with the other side. I have seen a few burn the contacts in the switch and only work one way. You can pull the switch apart and clean the contacts

hi again.
The driver's side rear window on the freelander1 has stuck in the halfway position the motor clicks and it will go down but won't go up.
So the switch and power is there, just the motor not cooperating.
I would like to at least get the glass up so I can secure the car and keep the rain out.
Anyone got any clues on how to get the window up?
thanks

It doesn't leak oil, Its sweating power
Thanks Woko
Pulled the door trim today the wire for the window looks like it is broken there are loops of it hanging down.
bought some spanners today will remove motor and jam window up so I can secure it,will look for new mechanism
Managed to get supposedly working mechanism off gumtree, looked new but didn't work, seller did not respond to my sms. pulled the new one apart turned out bottom spring had jumped off and caught in mechanism, pulled it all apart and rewound cable put spring back installed mechanism and works ok. winder has a plastic bit at the top that the wire passes over, the plastic bit had broken and the wire would not work properly. the mechanism works perfectly apart from that, if i can get a dud one can get the plastic bit off that and get working again if need be. bit fiddly to pull down and get back together but you need strong fingers, apparently the parts are available ex U.K.
