Are the chinese just doing low mount winches or can you get a high mount.

What are the largest HP motors and kg capacity you can get.

    Thanks justin

    you are right.

Hi there, sorry i haven't answered you, i only joined last month and have been on only once or twice a week. To answer your question about high mount winches and hp ratings.
    1. The Chinese are making all low mount winches as far as i am aware but i have had some good discussions about them making high mount winches, The problem is I would have to invest approx $50,000.00 into research and development to make a high mount winch as capable as the Warn winch, I would have to be pretty sure that it would work as good as if not better than the Warn winch. The most common use i understand the high mount winch is used for is high speed, Am i correct? for competitions With a 6hp to 12hp motor( someone in Queensland is trialling a 12hp motor on their Warn high mount for competition) I know it cannot be done with a low mount winch as gearing etc is the issue, Maybe in the next 2 or 3 years they will realize the need and start making one, but at the moment they don't, I can suggest you look at hydraulic for high speed retrieval but they are not allowed in some competitions as they give an unfair advantage.
    2. Hp sizes, the size hp of most Chinese winches vary from 3.5hp to 5.5hp depending on the manufacturer and the quality of motor, gearing, components etc, if you would like a better quality winch then they will get heavier and more expensive than the cheap winches you can buy on ebay for $350.00 to $650.00, Most of the cheap winch manufacturers have a warning on the side of the winch to run the motor no more than one minute every ten minutes as they heat up very quickly, if it is run longer than that the warranty is void as the user did not follow the manufacturers recommendations.
    3. If you are looking for a winch for high speed then please email me at ; philcossey@mail.com, we can get a 2 speed winch that has a gear ratio of 450:1 and 75:1, it is electric with a 3.3kw/4.5hp motor 12volt or 3.7kw/5hp motor 24 volt, ideal for dual battery systems.
I hope i have answered your questions, if you have any more, please don' hesitate to ask me, Phil,

    requirements

    Thanks for the reply Phil

At the moment I run an old 9000lb low mount Warn on my Rangie. But with the Isuzu up front it comes in at around the 2700kg mark. Speed is not an issue, but I would like a 12000lb winch with the best duty cycle motor you can get. I dont need a Warn as I am not going in comps, but quality is still up there on my list of good points.

    Regards Justin
