WHO RECKONS I AM GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE FOR THIS POST

:D:D:D
And there I was thinking that I had carefully avoided declaring which side of the "mods v no mods debate" I was on. :)
I suppose I should come clean.
In addition to the mod that you have been sufficiently observant to spot, I have also fitted LEDs behind the gauges and the clock because the original bulbs were so dim that I had to concentrate to read them at night.
I have also fitted Bilsteins because when I needed to replace the original shocks I could get a set from the USA for about $500 including freight.
I also have a light brush bar (bull bar would be an exaggeration and is no longer politically correct) to protect the vehicle from small branches, large birds and small animals. :)
The previous owner had fitted MaxiDrive rear axles (so that mod is not my fault).
There, I feel a lot better now that I have "come out of the closet". :p
:D
I am sure that like me, you are joking, because if you weren't it would have been yet another example of the way in which the tone or the intent of a post on a forum can so easily be misunderstood. I was almost worried that my joke about a war had fallen flat.
Would you like the war to be about modifications, about whether there are such things as anti-mod zealots or about why posts on forums are so easily and so regularly misinterpreted? :D:D:D
Sorry I couldn't get your joke at the end about getting into trouble to reproduce in the quote. The white background of the quoted section has changed it from being heavily disguised to completely invisible. :)
I think Ben was referring moreso to "general population" as opposed to our little neck of the woods :).
As for mods......a) it makes Smokey look darn cool and gives me a little wood everytime the roller door goes up and this big beautiful bar with spotties and a winch stares back at me....sssccchhhhaaaawwwwiiiinnnggggggg  b) the main purpose is the same as to why we insure our cars.......just in case......in my case. I want to travel further and more remotely...tackle tracks etc and the better modded Smokey is the better I will tackle those adventures and more safely for myself and the family.
Plus I have driven Smokey stock standard and compared to now..Smokey struggled stock in some places that new Smokey just cruises,

This is why I am reluctant to offer advice on forums these days, you always get some know-it-all smart arse ranting and raving 'you can't do this' and 'can't do that', who died and made them Land Rover king :2up::2up::2up:
I mod my Rangie to suit the driving, not to make a fashion statement or say 'look at me' like some people do. My Rangie has dents, scrapes and is used as hard as possible and I wear them with pride, I don't own **** trucks
As usual, most of these people have **** all idea what they're on about. Maybe they should just **** off and MYOFB , I keep my nose out of there intrest, keep yours out of mine :mad::mad::mad:
