AWARD CATEGORIES
1. Most amount of damage from one single incident
I would consider an "incident" to be damage sustained to the members/candidates car in question, as a DIRECT result of trying to execute an off road manoeuvre on a piece of terrain/obstacle other than an access track/road. Excluded from entry are general wear and tear issues such as, engine failures, suspension failures, drive train failures (unless an item has broken or failed DURING a single manoeuvre). Damage caused whilst on access tracks simply driving to and from particular areas are not included (unless something "out of the ordinary" happens to the car or driver in question whilst on the said road)
Final costs to replace items damaged during any incident will not be taken into account, simply number of panels/items on the said car damaged and how bad the end result looks.
Staked tyres, scratched panels, lost number plates, broken fan belts, electrical problems, are not included
2. Most spectacular incident as voted by members
This category is for the benefit of spectators/passengers only and entries can only be submitted by the said spectators/passengers and not by the driver them self. "Incident" includes a member/candidate executing either successfully or unsuccessfully a chosen SINGLE manoeuvre which resulted in spectacular damage, very lucky escape (not to be confused with "Best piece of driving"), crowd pleasing antics, or simply a manoeuvre with WOW factor.
3. Best piece of driving as voted by members
This category is for the benefit of spectators/passengers only and entries can only be submitted by the said spectators/passengers and not by the driver them self. "Best" includes successfully and correctly negotiating/executing a single manoeuvre/section of challenging terrain which a driver sets out to conquer and which tests the skills of the said driver and the capabilities of the vehicle they are driving.
4. Worst piece of driving as voted by members
This category is for the benefit of spectators/passengers HOWEVER, entries CAN be submitted by the driver them self. "Worst" includes an incident where a driver sets out to tackle a single manoeuvre/section and badly negotiates the said section resulting in a failed execution of the manoeuvre. This category includes general bad driving whilst driving to and from trips and has no geographical or time limitations/boundaries.
Sub Notes
1. All submissions to any of the above categories are to be submitted to this thread and are to be voted/decided on by GCLRO members only at an agreed date and time, where all members/candidates are present - either in person or by proxy.
2. Entries can be included in more than one category as a result of one single incident; however, the final decision rests with GCLRO members.
3. All entries to any of the above categories must be witnessed and verified by another GCLRO member.
4. Where possible, all entries are to be accompanied by photographic evidence or film footage to support an entry. This will also aid other members during the awards evening accurately asses or re-evaluate the merits of each entry.
That should muddy the water a bit. Happy to discuss some of the finer points in order to define the criteria for each award fully.
Aye, Mick
