I would agree with Coastie and buy quality and basic essentials and to reinforce what Louis said, I really think your best option is to go to a few stores with the likes of Louis and just look/discuss different items before you buy. I'll tag along too as you are nearby but this will save you a lot of grief and money longer term.

I have a large Colemen tent which is great but like everything, it has it's faults which you only find out about once you buy it and use it. Also have some cooking gear, tables etc and a whole raft of other stuff which I am only too happy to tell you about in a camp store where you can actually see what I am talking about.

Let me know if you want to do a tag along camp store visit with me and Louis and we'll keep you straight.

Hey all,

Went and did a recon at Anaconda on the weekend, luckily my other half was there otherwise it would of been a case of 'shhhhaaaacccchhhiinnggg", will check out BCF on Saturday when most of you are likely to be away down at Crystal Creek, and then most prob take Louis/Mick up on their assistance as I am likely to get carried away https://www.aulro.com/afvb/, then I will be permanently camping 8O .

I've got a chemical one which i think are good for long trips but for short stays is probably a bit too much hassle from a cleaning point of view which is why i'm thinking of getting one with the bags as an alternative for 2 night trips.

If you go chemical, make sure it's got a good size holding tank (which most do) and you get some of the biodegradable chemical (which says you can empty into the bush once broken down)... otherwise no other suggestions from my point... i've had it for about 5 years now but they don't seem to have changed much.

Oh and some have little legs on the bottom... that is one problem i have experienced... mines too low to the ground to just put it down... and haven't had too much luck finding a stand to get it to the right height... tried a milk crate but then too high. But most of the ones on the links below seem fairly high compared to mine.

Thanks mate for the info on the "waste" component 8O , and will check out Nerang disposals. Got me UHF yesterday by courier, just need to know how to operate it as My " Come in Big Bear, this is Rubber ducky" for some reason didnt seem to work. Getting offroad withdrawal symptoms atm, have to drop off tyre for repairs on weekend and they are going to look into some AT's for 19 inch rims, fingers crossed,

Porta Loo cost acout $150-$200
Well worth it for small kids and if partner likes a little comfort for camping (and if she needs to use frequently at night).

Even my mum will camp (65 yrs) with porta loo.

Forget the bags - some of the stools for these colapse under you too if no very careful!
With a porta loo (get the slightly taller one so that will sit high enough off the ground) you can camp anywhere - that menas where most other people will not camp.

Will need to bio degradable products so you can empty.

We use ours for the ladies plus emergencies - tank last longer that way.

Went to the post site for more info on Frazer but link not showing in info. Have to agree with you on topic of coversation being s###. on trip to frazer my concerns are more about what time on Friday do we meet? and where? are we travelling in convoy from the coast? or are we just going to meet at the rangers station in Rainbow beach and if so what time? With a group booking what are the ferry fees ($90.00 return per vehicle) park access ($25.00 for 48hrs) camping fees is there any discount with 15 vehicles and unknown people.Also when camping on the beach water is a concern too as there are no taps to turn on 8O I found 20 lts is not enough for 2 people for 2 days, just a thought :!:
