    Rover Park 2015

Thanks to all that made it to Rover Park. I think most arrived a bit later than expected. I know I certainly did, figured it was safer to leave early Saturday morning than drive during the night with minimal sleep the previous couple of nights. I think if leaving from Brisbane, travel via Warwick/Tenterfield or if from the south side of Brisbane/Gold Coast go via the Pacific Hwy.

Whereis/Google may give you an option to go via Woodenbong/Bonalbo etc however it is a windy round which takes much longer even though the trip may be a shorter distance. There are also many sections of unfenced paddocks which makes the risk of roaming cattle an issue as JohnR found out. They are all ok. Not sure about the cow. The bullbar served its purpose, but will need replacing along with the front mudguard. The car thankfully was still driveable.

Unfortunately I didn't quite make it in time for the first trip of the day on Saturday, I wasn't too far behind but with another UHF playing up I couldn't be heard so I just setup and chilled out at the camp site.

The Kiosk at Rover Park sell Ice creams which was great as Saturday was very hot. They are in the process of expanding the tracks which is a good thing, as they now allow motorbikes on site, however in doing so, they have split the park into 2 separate sections so that cars and bikes do not mix. They do swap them over but obviously not during the same weekend. The 4wding area was considerably smaller than what we are used to.

There was a little bit of rain Saturday night, but it didn't last too long and we were back around the fire. I believe it was a good fire

Sunday morning we went to watch Grimace tackle another of the creek tracks.

I have a few photos but none of the driving. Plenty were taken so others will hopefully post up soon.

A memorable first club trip for me. Got over some of my trust issues with the 130 and enjoyed driving the easy tracks. The harder ones (extreme for me, seemingly a walk in the park for others) were a revelation on the skills of drivers and the ability of their machines. Special thanks to Grimace and John with whom I got to ride shotgun. One of the most pleasant parts of the weekend was the long saturday afternoon soak in the river - it was a hot day! The drive to and from the park was long but the beauty of the land scape put a smile on my face. No mechanical issues nor cows could stop me getting back home. To tie the philonutritional theme of the weekend together I had a quick stop at the Bean Creek Falls; a nice easy side step and swimming spot if driving Woodenbong way.

A couple of pictures of Tim going uphill without lockers and the glorious dusk sky above our camp site.

So did anyone get photos or video of Ouch Canyon? I managed to leave the camera and the phone in the car just about every time I got out.

One photo of my camp setup before any one else had arrived.

and a couple of the river on Sunday morning.
