We were there after you left, on our way home from visiting our girls in Melbourne. What a terrific place to camp. Need to go there again sometime

    Thanks Andrew,

I was going to post a report and a few photos but you beat me to it .

We travelled down on Sunday the 27th, leaving Brisbane about 6.30 (only a little late). We stopped at the BP at Chindera and were greeted by Harry in his 2A who came down to wish us bon voyage which was great. We got stuck in a bit of traffic in behind Byron. Even though the tunnels were open it still went down to one lane before and after and there were still a lot of idiots on the road, travelling 80kph on the single lane bits and then speeding up to over 100 in the overtaking lanes. We ended up getting to Grafton around 11.30, stopping for some lunch and then heading on to The Gorge. The last 30 or so km in are dirt road and it definitely is a bit of a trek in there but well worth the trip.

My family group was two campers and three tents and Andrew and Fiona and Garry and Charene came in on the first day as well. The next day Wayne and Lynette arrived so we had a good group. Andrew had a bit of a mishap with the cows deciding that they liked what he bought them for Christmas and they also stuck their heads in quite a few places they were not wanted. Garry's dogs were very good at chasing them away and tried to teach our two what to do but they just chased the other dogs. Andrew headed off first and then Garry and my nephew Ross. New Years Eve saw a few more arrive with Stuart and Ruth and Harry and Carolyn and Klaus and Bev, Grant and Zoe who joined us down at Ballina last year. Friday saw a few more leave with my two daughters heading off and then we headed off on Saturday along with the HoHars leaving a few there for one last night.

Basically we had 6 days of relaxing, swimming and kayaking and there was quite good fishing if anyone wanted to. On the second last day we found a couple of swimming holes on one of the creeks that were fantastic so we now know about them.

Thanks to all who came along, can't get any better than good friends round a camp fire and a nice relaxing time.

    Tim.

Way in the distance is our campsite

On the way out we came across a true aussie farmer, dog and stock whip mustering some cattle
