    Glasshouse Mountains adventure 2016

    Last weekend we had the club trip to glasshouse mountains!
    This was my first time in the area and to say I underestimated the sheer size of the place would be an underestimated sentence in itself!

    This place is huge! The area, the tracks, the views, HUGE!

    How I have never explored this area more frequently is beyond me.

    I had a rather early start, as I was not sure how my vehicle was going to go traveling with it's rather poor mechanical condition of late!
    So at precisely 6am I gathered Fry and some food and water and we were off!

    Had a smooth run to Nudgee where I opted to stop to get breakfast and wees.
    I met up with David (Busman) and his passenger Michael, and we head off to the meet point.
    Ariving right on time!

    Everyone else was already there! Even Jason who must have had his disco in warp mode as he left much later then myself!

    With a few drop outs in the medium group and the lack of knowledge of the area we all decided to stay close.
    We didn't get to cover much ground unfortunately, but we did manage to do a number of the harder tracks and catch up with a hippy bush camp!

    I am trying to get some images/videos together from people present to post up but in the mean time I have a couple of images to share that Michael (a guest passenger) took at the bottom of little red!

    Dave at the base of little red;

    George in the same spot giving it a red hot go;

    Dave Marotte also snapped this great shot of some of the vehicles that were in attendance;

    Unfortunately we did have a rather early breakage. TimJ suffered what we suspect was a broken front crown wheel or the pinion.
    He did manage to get his vehicle home with a bit of MacGyver skills!

    More images and possibly some videos to come!

    Cheers to all who made an effort to come along, I most certainly will be back there and I think we could easily spend a couple of days out there in the future!
    If anyone is interested in a expedition style adventure I would highly recommend it! We need maps thou, lots of maps!

    This is how I kept enough oil in the front hub to get home. Had to remove the drive flange on one side and the front prop shaft to stop the diff from turning.

    If all you want is a permanently free wheeling hub it will. Didn't keep all the oil in though .

    Terrific trip, Terrific people. Let's do that again soon!
    My guest Garry, in his blue jeep thing was appreciative of the friendship and hospitality extended to him.
    A great advert for the club!

    Cheers
