I feel sorry for some car owners

Well last friday a ZD30 powered Patrol came to a smoking halt just up the road from me,my partner is giving another ZD30 owner a lift to work each day as his grenaded a fortnight ago and this week a mates Chrysler Voyager had the thermostat fail and he cooked it destroying the head,Chrysler don't have replacement heads, head gaskets anything for it so it's a months wait out of the states and a $4000 bill, they were leaving for a months trip to Tassie and got 6 hours down the road. The second Patrol is being sold engineless,he's not spending 10 grand for a replacement so the poor bloke's going to loose really badly,Like I said I really fell sorry for some people. Five years old, they've reached their use by date.

I've got 3 P38a's in at the moment with similar tails of woe. 2 crank failures, and 1 liner/ block issues. Unfortunately 2 of them are going to cost about as much as they are worth to repair, the other is a pending warranty job.

    Brings tears to the eyes.

After almost 300k,my brother did the leaking heads on his '93 D1,replaced the cams, etc.First thing he has done to to it ever, had it since almost new.(apart from normal servicing)The cams actually were hardly worn.

The local LR specialist down here on the southside talked him out of upgrading to a D2,as he recons they are trouble,is always fixing them, keeps him very busy.

As for my D2,it's been fantastic, never even had an oil leak, better grab a piece of wood...

My brother in law has had three ZD30's,& never ever had a problem...They recon hot weather & towing causes problems with them.

Reading other forums it was first thought that putting them under strain was the cause but as time went on the school run vehicles failed too,the second one drove from town to the smelter each day,a flat 15km trip. Pat
