An iconic far north Queensland tourist train has derailed with 249 people on board.
Authorities said the Kuranda Scenic Railway train derailed at Kuranda, near Cairns, around 10.30m (AEST) on Friday.
Five people were injured, including a two-year-old boy who suffered head injuries.
A woman, 62, has a knee and shoulder injury and a man, 25, received a cut to the head.
Two others received minor head injuries.
Ambulance and fire crews were at the scene on Friday afternoon.
Further information was being sought from Queensland Rail.
The railway opened in 1891 and is considered an engineering marvel, traversing 37 bridges and 37 tunnels through World Heritage-listed rainforest.
