Always wondered why they put lights on lawn mowers. Never powerful enough to be of any use and who wants to cut their grass at nightime anyway ?
Good choice though. I bought a JD ride on for our 5 acres 16 years ago, its done a lot of hard work and it's still going.

I've used the lights a few times. Just when finishing a mow and the I'm losing the light. I've also been bogged at home and used the JD's lights so I could see what I was doing, and the other night while out in the paddock trying to find the dog. They don't throw a heap of light but it fine for a mower.Quote:

Hi Slunnie. A bit of gratuitous advice for the JD if I may be so bold. It might sound silly, but make, steal or someway fabricate a nudge bar for it. The time will come when you'll doze and plow into the missus' favourite lump of greenery. Not an issue in itself, apart from appeasing the missus which can be a very painful/expensive exercise, as the JD is plenty tough enough. But what happens is the pretty plastic engine cover gets damaged, especially the tilt bits at the bottom front and their connections to the cover. These plastic bits are bloody expensive and if you dont fix them properly you end up with an occy strap around the bonnet holding it on (like mine) which looks pretty bad on a $8K+ mower. Fabricate something and hang it off the front, it's well worth it. JD might even have one for it as an accessory. Apart from the plastic bits I've found JD spares and consumables reasonably priced.
