    Heavy duty plastic storage boxes

Hi all, I am trying to find some heavy duty storage boxes for my cape trip in a couple of months. Space cases are way out of the budget. My requirements are as follows

    - heavy duty, want them to last longer than just the cape trip
    - Stackable on top of one another, on the false floor ontop of the drawers and be straped down
    - A lid that clips / locks on

I have seen these at oppisite lock and they are the closest I have seen so far.

If anyone else has any other suggestions I am all ears.
    Thanks Andrew

I had seen those, on that website actually. I just wasn't sure on the strength of the lids and I think the lids just loosley sit on?? I don't know I'm just going by the pictures on the website.
It also says under them Qty min. 40 for example does that mean that is the minium order number?

I bought some boxes from a two dollar shop...the clear stackable ones with roller wheels and handles that clip the lids to the body...that was 12 years ago and I can't kill them.

A Cape trip wouldn't either I would suggest unless you leave them in the sun for a few weeks.

They might not be cool looking gear but they have served their purpose on many a trip.

I agree that trimcast boxes are good, that is what I meant by space cases but at $400+ a pop I dont think so. Gough plastics make a similar product called tuff a box but again they are so so expensive It is not worth it.
I have looked at the cheap plastic roller boxes, the ones I have, have broken or cracked around the house just storing stuff on shelves, so I don't think they would last in the back of a 4wd.
Unless there are some better quality cheap ones I have not seen.

I have found Reflex brand or Nally brand very good quality for storage boxes with lids. I bought a stack on Ebay a while back, but they came from Melbourne and freight to Townsville would be high.

These are difficuly to kill. They come up on Ebay from time to time.

    Thanks Erich,
I have had experince with those catering type boxes before and they are hard to kill. I like the idea of a positive closing lid, not just sitting on top but I guess if I have them straped down this won't matter

the ones bundalene is talking about are pretty strong boxes......
the councils were using them as recycling bins for years......

i didnt do a search to see where to buy them individually.....i just found that site quickly to show you the items....
im sure someone will sell them individually.....

ive got some of the ones with the interlocking hinged lids.....these will fill with water if left out.....
the ones with the full lids will keep everything inside dry.......

Good thread.. keep us up to date with your investigtion.

I was using crazy clarks crap roller boxes and they last not very long at all. Complete rubbish. Then I bought this black thing with orange hinges from Bunnings - it's OK but only "OK" but it doesnt carry much for the vlume the box takes up.

And yes I'm poor so the space cases as fantastic as they are (and they are!) and Pelican cases (similar) are beyond my budget too.

I like a "buy once and be happy" philosophy but that only works if you have the moeny to buy the good gear

Waterproof is an absolut criteria - what's the point otherwise (says the Defender driver)..
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
