aulro.com outgrew that style of service many years ago

in reality you can have unlimited everything for 10 bucks a month

    except

    cpu cycles

in the last 12 months aulro.com pumped out 1.8 terrabytes of info

to do that you need a dedicated server or two and then enough bandwidth to do it mainly because most of that data is database based so you need the horsepower to look it up, then serve it up.

price 4RU of rack space for 2 servers, then a swag of bandwidth and your $7 wouldnt buy you a full minute of service..

but wait there is more !

you need a server or two !

a sun t1000 cost me $8000 with a few years left on the monthly lease payments and there is the ibm intel based server that cost me several grand that i only just finished the payments on...

i hate to burst your bubble sport but subscriptions do not go within a cooeee of paying for this place much less the time people invest in running it.

if it was about money it would have died years ago.....

subscribers don't cop the google adverts in the middle of the posts.

if i drop all the adverts to subscribers the place would close because i simply cant pay what it costs to run out of my back pocket anymore...

it would have died ages ago if it was not for the subscribers and supporters that have helped me keep the joint alive.

thanks for the thread and for supporting those that invest their time and money to bring you this service.

i have asked the advert supplier to turn off the drop down style adverts.

that will have repercussions money wise as he duly reminded me in his reply but we will see how it goes...
