Silver Subscriber lifts access above Subscriber level. this includes even more message space, gallery space and other nice features! with No Auto renewl each year. - $55
Standard lifts access to Subscriber level. this includes increased message space, gallery space and heaps of other little nice features! - $27.50
My silver subscription is just about to expire, the two descriptions above are, not very descriptive. What are the benefits of silver v gold v standard other than supporting the site.

If you don't have to wait 60secs between searches it might well be worth it!

You know back in the old days things were put on the internet for the good of the community, you make a website about a hobby etc and shared the information hoping it would help someone one day.

These days it seems everything on the net has to make money, it needs ads to cover the costs, it's got to make money or it's not worthwhile. It makes you wonder when unlimited disk space, unlimited traffic, unlimited domains hosting, unlimited MySQL(v.4/5) databases, unlimited PostgreSQL cost you all of $7 US a month just why is there a need for ads?

I have subscribed in the past and I have donated to this site, not because I'm under the illusion it's a huge expense to run just because it is run well and people should be rewarded in life for doing things well. Saying that I think all subscribers should see no ads, they give money to cover the running costs so they should have the choice to turn them off.

    Don't be naive.

Do you think there's a heap of companies out there providing free services purely for the warm and fuzzy feeling they get from doing so?

    Nothing is free.

All those so called "free" services you mention are actually funded by..... advertisers.

    Thanks for the thread Chucaro.
Subscriptions are a good way to support AULRO.
There is another way.If anybody can donate legitimate items we can auction or raffle we can raise good money for AULRO.
An example over the last few weeks we held an auction.Tombie2 donated 2 flash tunes for the TD5 mojo.We auctioned them and raised $840 towards the running of AULRO.
If you can offer anything, contact any of the moderators via PM.
    Thanks

    G'day Folks

For the benefit of Inside, although this website is free there are quite a few costs involved in keeping it running, first up there is the computer server that is the thing that holds all the programme,it cost and has had to be upgraded at least 3 times to my knowledge as this site has grown, this can be in the region of several $K's, then the is the band-width rental,to be able to get all of this site out there,it costs?? so even in computer dummies language that is why donation/subscriptions are needed, to keep in a free world wide service run for the benefit of Landrover Owners in Aust.

hope that is of some help

    cheers
