Missed out on an Aldi winch??

I bought one & decided its too much weight on the Isuzu, so I'm shopping around for a synthetic rope & aluminium fairlead.
Best so far is $349 all up.
With the winch @ $399, less - say $100 if i sell the cable, roller fairlead & damper, I might as well have bought this- it looks identical, with the bonus of more capacity- Doh !!

NEW 12V 12000LBS ELECTRIC WINCH WIRELESS SYNTHETIC ROPE - eBay 4x4 Accessories, Exterior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 28-May-10 10:43:21 AEST)

How much weight is too much weight? How much weight will you save with the synthetic rope and aluminium bits?

14 KG According to my bathroom scales - plus the Synthetic rope weight...

I am still considering having no cable permanently fitted and carrying a 12m & 28m wire cable away on trips. Then just use as required.
It has its benefits.- nothing to get pinched or used by vandals for starters.

"nothing to get pinched or used by vandals for starters"

I have a kill (isolator) switch located under the bonnet so this cannot happen, well the vandal bit anyway. Very cheap insurance from idiots.
Never heard of anyone having a cable pinched.

According to the owners manual, this winch can draw up to 410 amps under full load. Hard to find an isolator than can handle that. 250 seems the biggest & they cost a bomb.
There has been comments on this forum of isolators burning out & having to be bypassed.
I've never heard of cables been pinched either. I've had a few things thieved, they even got under a car cover, into a locked Rangie & removed the rego sticker & plates. So I'm a bit paranoid I guess..

    .
I know what he means I have bird caged mine a couple of times....

sometimes when pulling a heavy load if not watching your winch draw in the cable can cross over crushing the cable below it...

However I would of thought 100bux for a wire was excessive. I have on in the shed and I was going to put it on for 30bux brand new...although decided to keep it and change over the one that we have managed to slightly damage in places.

Then after that synthetic will go on....and I think the synthetic does make a difference to weight.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

surely they violate any of the state fair trade legislations ...
