    Just updating an old thread

    Govt's $3.3m won't replace officer's dream

    good to see
They should still sue the scumbag to recover the money and make him/them pay for the rest of their life

this is why I like being in the ADF as opposed to a copper...

If I'm carrying my boom stick in the line of my duty and you shoot at me, I get to shoot right back. I get to aim at the center of Mass and I get to use "Enough rounds to obtain the required result and no more".

Sadly society expects this of the ADF who is there to protect them from foreign dangers and yet when a gun wielding maniac lures cops into a killing field they cant just empty a mag into the idiot.

Heard all about that one vividly. One of the Duty Officers at Bathurst was in the TOU and was deloyed to that one. Very tragic.

Maybe not empty the mag but we can definitely keep shooting until the threat stops, if that requires 15 bullets well so be it. If its empty my mag or not go home to my family i know what I'll be doing.

to follow on from the OP, not in relation to the original post directly but of the same topic.

There was this over the weekend

Cops bashed by house-party revellers - ABC Sydney - Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Disgusting behaviour but its becoming more and more of a problem in society especially with young people on the drink. We broke up a brawl with about 30 people in the street friday week ago. All because someone called a person of aboriginal origin a "Black C#@t". Started in the beer garden of the pub then spilt onto the street. I had 15 blokes, after I told them to go home the other way and not the same way as the other half of the fight, push right past me and go straight for the other people and start the brawl again.

People think this behaviour is socially acceptable, and its ok for police to do operations and target alcohol fueled violence and attacks on police but until laws come in that hammer these people it will continue.

When there is enough public out cry laws get changed, look at Skyes Law in relation to police pursuits. A little girl, as tragic as it was, gets killed in an accident with a vehicle which was running from police and now there is a change to the law that mandates a 3 year prison sentence for people who engage in police pursuits. I wonder how many people actually get the full punishment? Not many i'd guess.

I had a chick take a swing at me, she missed, but thats beside the point, she got a $100 fine FFS. Its like a carnival game, come all come all, take a swing at a copper, only $100 a swing.

That wouldn't even cover the cost of prosecution. It would also be worn as a badge of honour, no wonder we can't make these morons behave in an acceptable way.
It never ceases to amaze me that idiots use the 'I was drunk' defense. If the punishment was doubled instead of reduced for drunken lawbreaking it might make people think twice.

Guys, interesting thread and I'm glad it is happening.

But I can't help but wonder would these comments be better directed at PM's both State and Federal.

Tell them you would rather better pay for better pays and support for Police, Firies, Ambos, or Army opposed to fire works, or other wasted feel good public spending.
Tell them you want a safe community, we choose which society we live in and jail sentences are given but not for-filled. 3 years should be 3, life should be life.
Tell them perhaps "special work place legislation" needs to be put in place for certain professions. Because really if WH&S was followed we would not have police, fire, ambulance or army. Tell them you want to pay for that, not some stupid ferris wheel like we have here in Brisbane.
Tell them you are sick of our essential services being treated like crap. We have all the money for roads, but little to compensate families with dead fathers.

Ironically a few years ago a Qld politicians son who was a useless drugo for as long as I knew him, got **** faced and had the cops called to the house. He ambushed the patrol car because he had some issue with the police wrecking his life. He put 6 rounds into the female office in the passenger seat before going on the run. He didn't kill her, just scared and traumatised her and her work buddy forever I would imaging.

Media said the found his useless carcass in the local bush with a single shot to the head from suicide. I have since heard (allegedly) that there were a few more than that, but I don't care at all.
After knowing this clown he did not have a mental issue, he was adopted but well cared for and loved. He was just a looser who didn't like to conform or believe in rules are for the good of all. So he worked it out the hard way but not before wrecking or scaring many people lives before hand.

That's it Ian, its a joke. It all started because she wanted her mother removed from the premises because she was at the front door abusing the crap out of her. We were over the road dealing with another situation and went over when we heard the yelling. The mother wouldnt leave when directed so she was escorted from the premises. Half way down the drive way the daughter decided she didnt want police to take her mother off the premises and came down and tried to wrestle with the two officers helping her mother out of the yard. I grabbed her to get her away from the two officers and she broke free from my grasp and took a swing. She got charged with hinder police and assault police and got an $80 fine for the hinder, she couldnt even be bothered to turn up in court, the matter was heard in her absence.

I agree Newhue, but the governments attempt at keeping us happy is to push 711 recruits through the college of knowlegde. Whilst we need the numbers the government gets more votes by the majority of the public buy pushing a large class of "New Police officers for the street" through Goulburn.
