Probably the year old beans.
Keep thinking I should come down and have a play.
Then I remember the faulty goods thread...

:D
Fresh beans. Then there is the hassle of cleaning it, etc.
Elisabeth is toying with buying an automatic machine like a Saeco Primea Touch but that's a lot of money for something that may only make mediocre coffee.
It's easier to go to the local roaster every day for a coffee.
I do not know about machines but coffee:
1) Cista Rica coffe :)
2) Ecuador or Colombia
Brazil coffee it is not good outside Brazil, the buggers keep the best coffee of the internal market :(
"Instant" coffe machines..... sister has one..... her hubby loves it (southern Italian). Me.... coffee is Meh..... i drink water there. They have all of the gadgets (built in coffee machine, water fountain thing to name 2... still prefer our stove top kettle (actually makes a hot cuppa) and stove top coffee maker (again, hot coffee).
Mind you.... do like the look and sound of some of the coffee setups here.... maybe one day!

Welcome to Fumo Blu
That set up is for home though, at the bar we have a bigger machine but its not set up too well as we mainly do drinks and use the coffee only for flavouring.;)
Its probably in the set up.
Spend some time on getting it right and if all your stars are aligned, you be very surprised.
I have had a great coffee from simple set ups, no cleaning ever done but it just worked.
One can go overboard.
Mine is actually quite simple set up.
I spend less on it that my neighbour did on his car hifi, so its all relative I guess.
A coffee machine has to be used to taste good too.
Too much cleaning and it will be metallic taste.
;)
Hi dmdigital
I happen to be a coffee nut too, with 2 Commercial Lever machines at home  ( a Rancilio Z9 Lever 1 group, and a La San Marco Lever 2 group). I also roast my own beans using the 'Correto' technique (bread maker and heat gun)
If you look on Coffeesnobs (well worth joining) in the For Sale section there is a very nice Isomac Tea for sale. The machines sold on this site are usually very well looked after.
Good luck with your search!
Thanks, I've looked at the Coffeesnobs forum for sales already. Didn't join as I'm on enough forums as it is. The trouble with buying second hand is the freight cost. these things aren't known for there light weight:(
choice did a review a while ago, and thier findings suggested that some of the cheaper ones might even have been the Sunbeam ones were better than some of the most expensive European brands.
worth checking out.
I totally agree here.
this way the machine is nicely run in, all moving parts can be changed and you can get a bargain and perhaps also upgrade Grinder.
The sunbeam model is actually very good value for money.
Its plastic but does produce 15psi and makes good coffee, how long for is any ones guess though.
Coffeesnobs is a very well run little family business now they are over their teasing problems and they have 10000 members now too.;)
