In the ACT, to purchase them legally now, only residents can purchase them on the weekend of Lizzie Regina's birthday, and let off then. No more interstaters purchasing them for "vermin" control....

No, sorry, not any more. One of our prominent local cat loving pollies decided that fireworks were simply too much fun for responsible adults, and successfully moved to ban them altogether. Needless to say he had the full support of the poor little dog run over whilst scared brigade, RSPCA. The pollie got his agenda up, then promptly resigned from the ministry, and announced his intention to not re-nominate next election.
So now it back to various sorts of amateur pyrotechnics in stormwater drains and burning down schools and stuff like that........ Oh, and by the way, the dedicated opposition jumped on the bandwaggon, and announced that they would not reverse it if elected.

I think the polies confuse illegal Display firework with pre packaged backyard stuff
Lets face it a a little red banger isn't going to blow your hands off and a ten shooter might make you blind if it hit you in the eye but so would an elastic band twanged in your face
Most of the stuff you see or hear on the news involves large display type fireworks that you couldnt buy even when they were legal

If your stupid enough to use that kind of stuff you deserve everything you get

but they ban tiny weeny little ones
im led to believe you can still buy the big stuff just as easy as you could before so that achived nothing
