Not football because it is not allowed to use the hands
It is football for billons of people and will be called football for ever.
One day the british will come out of the cave and will call it football as well

It IS called football by nearly everyone in Britain. The term soccer has mostly dropped out of use, but originally was used to distinguish it from other branches of football. Soccer is only still widely used as a term in countries with other strong football codes eg USA, Australia. In the UK no one would think of Rugby (League or Union) if you mentioned football. When I go back to England I get ridiculed by my mates when I occasionally mention soccer!

With talk of media reportage of the games previously in this thread I thought this headline was fairly interesting... and enlightening. From John Huxley in the SMH.

Australasia 1 - Slovakia 1: Kiwis get the point

No comments about the Australia - Ghanian game last night?

Looking forward to the NZ - Italy game tomorrow morning, everything to gain and nothing to lose.

    Not coined:
Modern football was born in 1863 when the English Football Association was founded yet the roots of the game stretch back centuries.
The Cambridge Rules, first drawn up at Cambridge University in 1848, were particularly influential in the development of subsequent codes, including association football.

Wow, 1-1, draw with the world champs. Edge of the seat stuff watching it here, wohoo!

NZ after match commentary are discussing what the All Whites do as living. Surprisingly some are not full time professional footballers.

Some of the stats make for good reading. Some interesting penalty calls.
