Grrrr: CommBank + Tax Dept = Pain

I am saying "damn" a lot today.

Firstly, the Commonwealth Bank had a glitch in their BPay system, so when I paid my tax bill of $15K yesterday, it got paid twice. So now I am $12K overdrawn, and they can't get the money back from the Tax Dept.

So - I ring the Tax department. Except that I can't. Every time I ring, the automated phone system tells me they are experiencing a period of peak load, and they are unable to take my call.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrr

The big elephant had the glitch, elephant double paid tax man, elephant re-emburses YOU, their BOO BOO, they repay you. end of story

They then seek re-embursment for double payment from Tax Dept.

Nope - CommBank will not reimburse me. The best they are offering is to give me an instant $20K overdraft facility so I can pay my other bills until the ATO gives me back my money.

I eventually got onto the ATO but they say they haven't received any of my money yet, so god know what black internet hole it has gone into. Will try them again in the morning.......

did the CBA admit to the glitch? If so, I would have thought their problem not yours.

    But easier said than resolved...

FYI my experience suggests the ATO can take a few days to process transactions their side. (just letting you know)

Ring the relevant Ombudsman and then Today Tonight or similar. I bet you get it back quick then. If they have double paid and it is their fault not yours then you could also prefer charges of theft and fraud against them. I would be suggesting that.

Yeah - they admit the glitch, but say they can't get the money back. It is up to the Tax Office to refund it.

At least they said they'd refund any overdrawn fees, so that's made me a bit happier.

It's the first stuff up in 3 or 4 years of NetBanking, so not going to jump up and down too much, as long as the ATO refund the bit I want back, it's just one of those things.
