I regularly fill my td5 disco with B20 and it definitely runs better on this fuel. Occasionally I fill from the local caltex servo and there is noticeable difference in performance, range and engine smoothness.
anyone else have similar experience? the b20 outlet is a freedom servo.
just won dering if I'm kidding myself but I goto the freedom servo for the b20 whenever I'm able

    Softer bang = smoother engine.

I built a killer 308 years ago with an aggressive cam. Rough, powerful, felt damn fast.
Fitted a different cam profile a few months later. Car felt softer, smoother and less powerful. I wasn't happy at all...
Until it ran under a second faster down the drag strip.
Point being butt dyno is not an accurate measure of performance.

A side thought for those urban dwellers. Stop start runs soot up the motor and the bio most likely removes some of this making the engine feel better.

Those using them for constant running suffer less effect as their engines run at temp longer and soot up less.

ran this s#it in my VW transporter the other day, didn't seem to run any different, BUT the exhaust gas light came up on the dash until i got rid of the fuel and put real diesel in

I know that all fuel has to conform to the relevant standards, but I found it quite noticable the difference in performance between the different diesel brands.

Filling up at the Caltex down the road from home the car's performance was on a par with a slug carrying some very heavy shopping (which was typical, as I had a Caltex fuelcard!), but using the Shell or Mobil servos on the way home from work, I often forgot that I'd filled up elsewhere and had to lift up on the loud pedal.
Worse still was the local 7-11. I was sure it was more than 50% water.
From a couple of years ago when i was working for a mob that does all the electrical for 7-11 in victoria, 7-11 bought there fuels from shell

Went there on the weekend as their website and iphone app say that they have it. Guess what, they dont! I have emailed them with a complaint. Not only that but I was told to use the BP Ultimate blue one in my TD5!! WTF!!

I have used all manner of diesel brands in the southern states including Tas, and also WA. (Toyota 60 HJ years ago, now TD5 Defender)

I have not noticed the slightest difference in performance or fuel consumption from any of them.

    Cheers,

    Lionel
