Call me a cynic but... Some people forget the past easily. Remember Joan kerner (not sure of the spelling) Got a dud election coming and don`t want to take the fall? Slide in a mega distraction. Well why not just dissolve the government and hand power over to Santos. At lest then Australian politics will look the way it really is.

Interesting thread this one, one thing that a lot of people miss is that any political party in power is only as good as the bureaucracy behind it, and it is quite obvious that there was a lot of white-anting going on, the stuffups with the insulation, education revolution, schools building projects could not have gone that horribly wrong without some tweeking from within the departments,"Idon't like this mob, so I will just make a few hiccups" ;) gets bad press,slings mud, media go into frenzy, it has happened before and will again.
Just my 2 cents worth, but it is worth thinking about.
