Dont kill it, ask the ranger to trap it and see if its someones pet, yes it should not be on your land, but kitties wander...
I love cats and dogs and yes mine have been known to wander.... if the owner is contacted then they can make sure tinkles is kept under control, if not then its the fate of the council and the blue mile...
Aspirin and milk will kill possums etc too so make sure you actually target the right animal.
Are you on a property or suburbia ?
If suburbia its NOT worth being charged with firearm offences coz of some freaking cat.
If you trap it and its a pet you can return it (or hold it hostage for a ransom :) ) !
If it's feral you can "deal" with it and just tell the council that you weren;t succesful in getting anything...
If it's Tom Cat's your having trouble with, empty the pepper shaker on the area where they are spaying. As they always liken to have a nice big "sniff" first before they spray...I assure you that you will never see them again. My dad put me onto it and it definetly works.
Cheers, Mick
probably not a popular comment, but let's remember that it's not the ferals fault that they're here - it's ours...so the least we can do is kill them as humanely as possible. They're just doing what comes naturally and I find it bizarre that people who would get upset if their dog got a thorn in it's foot sometimes seem to actually take pleasure in going out of their way to kill unwanted animals in inhumane ways...
bring on the hate mail...
Chuck some food scraps in a wheelie bin, wet a rag with some ether, wait for moggy to pop into the bin then toss the rag in and close the lid, He'll drop off to sleep and you can relocate him.:D
Get yourself a pair of huskies. They eat cats. My neigbour has just got a cat and he said to me the other day that my dogs better not kill his cat. I told him they won't unless of course it is in my garden then they will. He was not Happy with that comment. But then I hate the way cats **** I everyoneelse garden apart from their own

Mate, If I new where to get one I would buy two !!!
Thanks all for the comments.
I woukd not give it back or relocate the things, they would die quickly.
As have they in the past.
I think of the suffering of the wildlife destroyed needlessly and then smile
as the cat dies.
I dont mind cats, we have had them but none that survived hunted wildlife. The last ones we had, my Lorikeet used to walk around on and
would groom them.
