LPG rebate - 2 on the same car

Today I found out that the LPG Rebate is done on the individual. You are allowed one every three years (Yes, it can be on the same car).

So what I here you call, it ends in less than two years. Which it does, but....

You have 12 months from the date of installation in which to claim, only the amount of rebate you receive is calculated on what the rebate was at the date of installation.

    For example:
LPG installed and claimed for on the 1st July 2008
another LPG system installed 1st August 2010 - claim made 2nd July 2011 $1500 (3yrs after first claim, but within 12 months of date of installation)

I thought my sister was wrong when she said that her LPG system - on a Prado- was upgraded to injection system at virtually no cost. Either that or the installer had done a swifty..
    Makes sense now..

I thought about upgrading to liquid injection, but it seems a bit of overkill for the old Disco.

    From the ausindustry website:

    http://www.ausindustry.gov.au/Energy...LPG%20FAQs.pdf

Repairs, maintenance or upgrades to an existing LPG system are not eligible for a grant.

The only way they will pay a rebate is if the vehicle hasn't had a rebate before. There was a job I had where I was asked to take the gas off a damaged car, and when it was fixed they decided to get gas on it again. As the first conversion wasn't done with a claimed rebate the gov't allowed a rebate claim for the second conversion. The invoice was for a complete conversion even though it had all these mysterious holes in the right places to bolt a system up.

That is why I started this thread.

The rebate is on the PERSON NOT THE CAR. YOU CAN HAVE THE SAME CAR DONE TWICE

    From the link bee_utey supplied

    Applicant and Vehicle Eligibility
    Who is eligible to apply?
You are eligible to apply for a grant if:
    • you have not received a grant under the Scheme for a conversion that occurred in the
previous three years. Three years are calculated:
    - from the date of the LPG conversion or new vehicle purchase that was the subject
    of the previous grant
    - to the date of application for the subsequent grant; and

No mention of the vehicle just the person.

Opps, I should clarify that I am talking about the federal government rebate, I do not know about the States and their add on rebates

I disagree with you but the easiest way is to ask them direct. I have asked and was told only one rebate will be paid on one car.

    From the FAQ again:

Can I claim for LPG system repairs, maintenance or upgrades?
No. Repairs, maintenance or upgrades to an existing LPG system are not eligible for a grant.

If you have different news I would be interested to hear it.

    Who did you ask?

The rebate is on the person not the car.

If someone has gas fitted under the rebate, removes the gas then sells the car. You buy the car you can claim a rebate to have gas fitted again.

I asked as I was wondering what happens if I buy a car that had previously been gassed. The answer I got was: no problem I'd still be able to get a rebate.

You right you can not get the rebate for repairs, maintenance, or upgrades. I never said you could.

What I said was you can get gas fitted to the same car twice. So if you remove the old system you can get a rebate for fitting a new system.

The bird on the other end of the phone said "Just checking to see if a rebate has been paid on this car already, no, so you are all right for a rebate." I took this to mean no way you would get 2 rebates on 1 car but, hey, I didn't ask the question quite the same way as you asked. Only one way to find out, blow the dough and wait for the rebate application to go through.
