With the comprehensive inclusions with the rest of the kit, can I ask why 3 gloves?

Are you intending a one handed technique 3 times or do you have 3 hands you want to use once?

I would always include at least 2 pair (4 gloves) and probably a lot more pairs for a long trip. In fact there is half a box in the car at the moment, and I'm not going anywhere ATM.

Have you also considered the size of the hands who may use them? Your partner may have small hands and you large in which case medium may be too small for you and too large for her?

Take them as merely suggestions... my kit for extended remote northern fishing travel would also include

-local (ever removed a barbed hook without it ;) - with less side effects than rum)
-antiemetic
-anti inflammatory
-sanitary pads (with a bandage makes a great dressing for a big bleeder)

Ours is pretty much the same as yours Erich, with the inclusion of;

Nebuliser

Antihistamines

AND a Butane canister for killing ticks, freeze them before they inject their poison Nessie is alergic.

Compression bandage for snake bites.

Nessie has alergies to polen and can go asmatic, yes we use Ventolin.

No only used the Nebuliser, we even bought a pure wave inverter to run it as the modified inverter wouldn't run it properly.

Is there something smaller and easier to use?

Yes baz - at the Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick a small volume aerosol spacer is the first line treatment. In fact it is only the most severe cases requiring adrenaline or continuous venolin that we switch to a nebuliser mask.

Yes we have done the research and find that (except for the cases mentioned above) it is as or more effective than a nebuliser, can be carried in a handbag and doesn't need any electricity or gas supply. The medication from the MDI (puffer) is a smaller molecule and we believe is more efficient. The important thing is that treatment can start quickly without having to set up a whole lot of equipment.

They are available in most pharmacies without a prescription and can be supplied with a child size mask, because young kids have difficulty in making a seal on the mouthpiece, but older children and adults just use the mouthpiece. (yes we use small volume spacers on everyone, including adolescents and would on adults if we had any).

Talk to your doctor or local pharmacy about trialling the spacer.

A medicine based on promethazine hydrochloride like Fenezal for cases where Zyrtec it is not effective will be a good addition on the kit.
If some of the people in the trip have before a severe allergy reaction also I will add Prednisolone tablets in the kit.

do the experts consider it advisable for one to be carried in a remote-area first aid kit ?
