the layout of the public bar at the local always impressed me when i went there to pick up the woree.
concrete tables bolted to the ground and a heavy galv steel grill protecting the bar staff...
looks like some big nights happened there :p

Its a nice enough place. I worked at Burketown for a little bit and loved it. Great lifestyle and fishing. Food comes in once a week or so, prices are a bit higher. Macair used to fly in daily but since they've gone dont known if this still happens. You will get flooded in for between 6 and 8 weeks every wet season though. Take the chance you wont regret it if its only for a few years and the memories are priceless.
Some of the best fights I have ever seen were in the Animal Bar at the karumba Lodge. Mind you it was always the fishermen getting a Testosterone fix!
Have also witnessed a couple of other acts at that bar which I won't mention.
Still a great place.

Thats the Animal bar, there is another pub, at the other end of town. Very Good One of the few places in QLD where the sun sets over the sea.
Fishing and drinking capital of QLD
