I didnt want a Land Rover

I had no intention of buying one. I was in the market....and appraising.....for a RTV Falcon Ute. I had knocked back a really good offer on a Mazda Bravo 4x4 and also a Nissan Pathfinder. I had looked at a couple of good RTV's. I was not getting a Land Rover. I was taking my son to an appt and had an hour to kill so I thought I'd look at a disco in a yard up on one those 10' high ramps. I was not getting one btw. It was perfect underneath, had the EFS suspension kit, diff locks, good tyres, plenty rego, about 100k, very clean interior, arb bull bar. $26k.
Then a salesman appeared. I said,"no mate, too dear" he said "what have you got to trade?" I said "a 15 yo falcon mate" he said "what would we have to do?" I said "$20k clean changeover, $20k limit mate....not adding taxes and other stuff into it" he said" no we couldnt do it"....I said " good thanks mate, I wasnt gonna buy a Land Rover anyway, ooroo".... he said " hang on a minute can I have a chat to our GM about it?" " I said" no, its ok, we gotta be somewhere else in an hour anyway" he said "If the GM can approve this you can be on your way with it in less than hour".... I said " mate if you can get it approved in less than an hour at a clean $20k changeover I'll buy it" So, to cut a long yarn short, the bastards eventually met my price. Thats why I drive a disco today. Thats about 3 yrs ago. SWMBO hasnt driven it yet.Eldest son drives it every chance he can. Youngest son on "L" plates reckons it ****s on the 3 other car choices he has to learn in. and I love getting in it and ****ing off into the bush for 4-5000km couple of times a year.
I'm tellin ya.....I wasnt gonna buy a Land Rover !

Same with me. Only looked at the 130 as I loved the look of them. I was heading over to by me the Ford I has seen the other day to get the price for the lease company.

There was no other option me, dad bought a rangie in 74 and had another 3 2drs and then bought a 4dr 5psd rangie in 84 which i learnt to drive in.
Had other cars but the 81 rangie was my first real 4wd ( apart from a suzi LJ50) and 16 years later still got one and dont plan on driving anything else.

I had an LJ50 too Loanrangie. Great little fourby. And I had no intention of buying a Landie but always admired and hankered for an LSE Rangie. And I frequently drove past the local independant Landy dealer just to see if one turned up there and was fairly comfortable with the fact that due to the inherent scarcity of them in Oz that there never would be one there. But one day there was...and I stopped to look...then I drove it.... SOLD!!!!.....sigh......
